The Riffraff Diesel upgraded Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) is a premium replacement sensor engineered specifically for 1994–2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke diesel engines. The CPS is one of the most important engine-management sensors on the 7.3L Powerstroke, providing the PCM with the engine position and speed information necessary to properly control injector firing.
A weak, intermittent, or failed 7.3 Powerstroke camshaft position sensor can cause hard starting, crank/no-start conditions, intermittent stalling, rough idle, poor throttle response, or sudden engine shutdown while driving. CPS failures have historically been so common on the 7.3L that many Powerstroke owners have carried a spare sensor in the truck.
The original International black CPS became well known among 7.3L owners for its drivability, throttle response, and consistent engine operation, but it was also prone to failures that could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly.
Ford addressed this concern with Safety Recall 07S57 in December 2007, replacing the failure-prone black Camshaft Position Sensor with an updated grey-colored sensor. While the updated CPS helped reduce certain stalling failures, it introduced another issue that has frustrated 7.3L technicians and owners for years.
The revised grey CPS can affect the rotational velocity information interpreted by the PCM during a Cylinder Contribution Test (CCT). This can result in false or misleading P0269 Cylinder #3 Contribution/Balance Fault and P0284 Cylinder #8 Contribution/Balance Fault trouble codes, potentially making a good injector or healthy cylinder appear to have a problem.
Riffraff Diesel developed this new 7.3L Powerstroke CPS to address the shortcomings associated with both earlier sensor designs. Using modern Hall Effect sensor technology, updated electronics, and improved manufacturing controls, the Riffraff CPS is designed to provide a clean, stable, and consistent engine position signal to the PCM.
For anyone troubleshooting a 7.3 Powerstroke no-start, intermittent stalling, questionable cylinder contribution test results, rough idle, or simply wanting a high-quality CPS upgrade, the Riffraff Diesel Camshaft Position Sensor is one of the best replacement options currently available.

Designed for long-term reliability and consistent performance
A failing Camshaft Position Sensor may cause:
Engine cranks but will not start
Intermittent no-start condition
Engine stalls while driving
Sudden engine shutdown
Extended cranking
Rough or inconsistent idle
Poor or inconsistent throttle response
Intermittent drivability problems
Camshaft Position Sensor related diagnostic trouble codes
Inconsistent or questionable Cylinder Contribution Test results
Diagnosing a 7.3L Powerstroke can become unnecessarily complicated when the PCM is receiving inconsistent engine-position information. This becomes particularly important when diagnosing injector or cylinder contribution problems because the PCM uses small changes in rotational velocity to determine how much each cylinder contributes to engine operation.
The Riffraff Diesel upgraded CPS was designed specifically to provide the stable, repeatable signal that accurate 7.3L engine operation and diagnostics require. Whether you're replacing a failed sensor, trying to eliminate intermittent stalling, troubleshooting a no-start, or dealing with suspicious #3 or #8 cylinder contribution codes, this is the CPS we recommend for the 1994–2003 7.3L Powerstroke.
